Dear Colleagues,
Greetings to everyone. This is a follow up mail regarding the
Takemi Journal. As many of you already may have received our earlier mail
(below) in March, you are aware that the Takemi Program in International Health
at HSPH started an annual journal with our first issue in 2007. Many of you
responded with an interest to submit articles and we received many positive
responses on the initiative. As our next issue is under preparation we would
like to follow up with you so that you can submit any highlights and/or articles
that could be still be considered for the forthcoming issue. In particular we
need highlights from the Fellows - instructions are in the outline available at
the Journal website: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/takemi/.
These highlights are an important way to share the major events/accomplishments
from the family of Fellows such as awards, transitions, publications, etcetera.
We will also be glad to receive any other inputs and comments towards making the
Journal
initiative a success.
Please send any submissions by the end of this month and at the
latest by mid July. We will be updating you on the progress we are making.
I look forward to hearing from you.
With many thanks and best regards to all,
Richard Wamai

Dear Colleagues, Friends,
I hope this mail finds everyone doing fine and well wherever you
may be. My name is Richard Wamai currently a Takemi Fellow and I am writing you
from HSPH in Boston. I am sending this mail to all former and current Takemi
Fellows for whom we have email addresses. The Takemi Fellows of last year
established a journal to be published online yearly by the Program. The purpose
of the journal is to provide an avenue for the fellows to share their work,
exchange experiences and have contact with the Program after completing the
fellowship. The first journal issue of last year has been placed on the Takemi
website here: http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/takemi/ under the button "Recent events in the program" you click on the "The Takemi
Fellows Journal 2007" to view the entire document with 7 articles of the fellows
of last year.
This letter is to Call for Submissions of short, even
preliminary, studies, field notes and opinions in the practice of the health
field you are working on. The Journal has several sections and includes Fellows’
highlights, which are any accomplishments, developments and transitions you
would want to share with other Fellows. Although you will find all the journal
documents on the above website, I am attaching for your quick reference the
journal's CONCEPT AND OUTLINE which has specific the guidelines for the type of
submissions and procedure of review and publication. Preliminary submissions for
this Call are due April 30th.
I and another former Fellow (Anup Karan from India) are the
journal’s current co-Chairs and the Editorial Board is comprised of all the
other former fellows (the concept and outline document has details of how we
envisaged the editorial process to be).
The Journal is an effort by the Fellows for the Fellows to
continue with the Takemi Program spirit to share and learn from the diversity
and wealth of experiences across the about 50 countries represented.
I look forward to discussing any questions and interests you may
have.
My warm regards to everyone,
Richard Wamai
